How to Grow Your Hair Long
You’ve been wanting long, delicious locks for years, but aren’t sure how to keep your hair healthy on it’s growth journey.
Getting “Rapunzel” hair takes a lot of mindfulness toward your locks, but is easier than you may think.
The biggest key to getting longer hair is keeping it healthy: healthy hair = longer hair.
Here are a few tips to help your tresses grow like crazy.
Yes, get those dry ends off before they break off! Getting regular trims will make your hair look and feel healthier, while promoting hair growth. It may seem counter-productive, but we promise your hair will thank you by growing more!
Saturate your hair with conditioner (and lots of it) when you get in the shower. Skip the shampoo every now and then and find a conditioner that is rich in protein or gives your ends a moisture boost! Make sure to keep it in for 5-10 minutes and focus the majority of the product on your ends. Rinse the conditioner out with cool water to seal in all the nutrients.
Apply a hair masque weekly in order to give it the extra lovin’ that conditioner just can’t! You can leave a masque in for a few hours or even overnight. If you are at the pool, the beach, or outside all day, keep a masque in your hair for protection against the sun, chlorine, and dry weather.
Your hair is what you eat! Be sure to incorporate foods high in proteins, antioxidants, fatty acids, and biotin. Some yummy hair-food-favorites include avocados, fish, eggs, nuts & seeds, salmon, spinach, and berries. Get the rest of the nutrients your hair needs through Lush gummy vitamin supplements.
Leave it alone.
Lay off on the curling, coloring, bleaching, and ponytailing. All of these things can cause a loss in moisture, protein, and increase breakage! Let your hair air dry when you can, braid your hair for a heat-free style, go longer between coloring appointments (or better: ditch them altogether), substitute a ponytail for a safer hair tie, like a hair coil.
Getting longer, stronger, healthier hair is easier than you think, but it will take some commitment. Your hair will get as long as you let it through your dedication.
Break some of your old habits and trade them in for other habits that will support your #mermaidhair goals!
